About Bharateeya Vidya Kendram

Bharateeya Vidya Kendram (BVK) was born with an object of imparting education on sound lines of discipline, to inculcate a sense of patriotism, character-building and pride for the ancient Bharateeya culture.

Main Object

Bharateeya Vidya Kendram is providing quality education since 1957 and is committed to educate the young generation according to Bharteeya values and culture. The institute first started in 1957 in the name of Bharat Tutorial College, presently popular as BVK to the entire Coastal Andhra Pradesh.

College Profile

The Junior College was inagurated as a co-ed college with three Telugu medium sections and five lecturers . The College was inaugurated on 17-9-1972 by Dr.L.Bullaiah, the then Vice-Chancellor of Andhra University and the occasion was presided over by Sri.K.S. Dutt a prominent industrialist of Visakhapatnam.

During the academic year 1973-74, one Science section with M.P.C. and Bi.P.C. combination in Telugu Medium was started and in the following year two more sections in english medium (Science & Humanities) ware granted. In 1977 the demand for admissions was increased and the College was running with 3 English medium and 3 Telugu medium sections for both Science and Humanities.

Right from its inception the management made it a cardinal principle to run the college on perfect lines of discipline and it was only our college in this city which introduced uniform and Upanishadic prayer compulsory to all the students at +2 level and it worked out well. College has been conducting cultural functions, debates, elocution and other competitions. It also arranges guest lectures by eminent personalities to inculcate a spirit of high thinking , patriotism and love for bharateeya culture and tradition. Besides these, our students have been playing noteworthy role in emergency situations like floods, natural ravages, Diviseema calamity and Konaseema floods etc.

Since a sound mind exists in a sound body, we emphsise physical education in our College. Training is imparted to all the enthusiastic students in various games and sports. Our records show that nearly 450 students participated at the National Level, let alone the State and District tournaments.
At present we are running with five streams (MPC, BiPC, CEC, MEC and HEC)

Our Mission

Management of Bharteeya Vidya Kendram visions to provide overall development of a student. Apart from normal studies, students are provided with excellent library containing more than 10,000 books and journals, spacious labs with latest equipments, indoor and outdoor games facilities etc.

Students Celebrated Vasantha Panchami, Rakshabhandan, Krishnastami, Rama Prana Prathista, Ganesh chathurthi and Pongal etc., in adition to National festivals.
